Description
Among the Brahmins, Yagnopavit Sanskar is a very significant rite. Certain Kshatriyas and Vaishya communities also wear the sacred thread. Another name for a Brahmin is a Dwija, which translates to “the one who is born twice.” Janeu Sanskar is claimed to cause a male to be born again. Janeu, also known as Yajnopaveetam, is a sacred thread that is wrapped over the boy’s left shoulder.
