Description

The day preceding Holi is dedicated to performing Holika Puja. History says that Hiranyakashipu is enraged and frustrated by his son Prahlad’s devoted worship of Lord Vishnu. Hiranyakashipu requested assistance from his sister Holika because he saw Lord Vishnu as an enemy.

Holika lit a campfire in an attempt to burn Prahalad. In an attempt to smother Prahalad with fire, she asked him to sit on her lap. Holika perishes in the fire while Prahalad escapes unscathed, with Lord Vishnu keeping watch over him. Holika Dahan is observed on this day.

This event represents the eradication of all sins and the ending of all wicked thoughts. Mother Holika will bestow her blessings onto someone on this particular date. It grants wishes and aids individuals in overcoming all challenges in life.
